Sanctioned by the Department of Public Instruction as an Exceptional Children’s Program, Melmark Carolinas provides school-aged children who have a broad range of intellectual disabilities with full-day and year-round support in a clinically-sophisticated learning environment. Melmark delivers instruction on a 1:2 or 1:1 teacher-to-student ratio in accordance with each student’s Individual Education Program (IEP), enabling teachers to focus on their personal growth and development.
Melmark Carolinas and Carolina Therapeutics work together to ensure each student receives the specialized education services required by their IEP. We provide Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy Services to students at Melmark Carolinas through direct service delivery, consultative services, and collaboration of care.
If you’re concerned that your child’s school is IEP non-compliant, or your child doesn’t have access to free and appropriate public education (FAPE), Melmark may be a suitable alternative to the public school environment. Speech Therapy
Promotes speech sound production, language comprehension and use, communication, reading, and feeding/swallowing.
Physical Therapy
Addresses gross motor delays, upper/lower extremity weakness and coordination, mobility, range of motion, and gait.
Occupational Therapy
Targets difficulties with fine-motor and visual-motor skills, sensory processing, and executive functioning tasks.
